Thomas Scheytt (* 1960 in Murrhardt ) is a German Blues - and Boogie - Pianist and - Composer .

Live and act

Scheytt received piano and organ lessons from an early age. He studied philosophy, German literature and history in Freiburg, and since 1983 he has performed as a blues and boogie pianist. Scheytt received several awards, including a. twice the German Blues Award .

In 1986 Scheytt founded the Oldtime Blues & Boogie Duo with Ignaz Netzer . The duo has been performing as Netzer & Scheytt since 1999 and has won several awards. Together with Christoph Pfaff and Hiram Mutschler , Scheytt founded the Boogie Connection in 1991 . Since then, the band has been on the road at festivals (including with international guest musicians), in jazz clubs, music bars, with TV appearances, on cabaret stages, city festivals and company events all over Europe. Since 2001 Scheytt has performed regularly in a trio with the jazz organist Barbara Dennerlein and Ignaz Netzer. So far twelve CDs have been released with him, four of them solo albums with standards and original compositions. With around 120 concerts per year (as of 2019), he is one of the busiest musicians on the European blues and boogie scene. In the trade press, Thomas Scheytt is considered one of the best contemporary blues and boogie pianists, and the variety of expression in his blues pieces is particularly emphasized. His own compositions reach the level of his American role models.
