Hiram Mutschler

Hiram Mutschler (born April 7, 1953 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German modern jazz drummer .

Live and act

Mutschler first learned the accordion from the age of ten and switched to drums at the age of fourteen . First he played between 1967 and 1972 with amateur rock bands, from 1973 in fusion bands . After a jazz course with Heinrich Hock and further lessons with Peter Giger and Joe Nay , he completed an apprenticeship as a music school teacher at the Trossingen Academy in 1978/79 . In the early 1980s he belonged to the music ensemble of the Freiburg Theater , and then worked with Wolfgang Engstfeld , Charlie Mariano , Jasper van't Hof and Bob Mover . Between 1983 and 1986 he worked from Copenhagen , among others with Bent Jædig and Doug Raney . He then worked in France with Louis Sclavis and with Biréli Lagrène . He toured internationally with Horace Parlan several times. In the 1990s he performed with the John Stowell Trio , as well as with Charles Davis , John Abercrombie and the project "Motown Goes Jazz". He was involved in recordings by Jörg Niessner, John Stowell, Horace Parlan and the German-French ensemble "Open Drive". Since 2001 he has been the drummer for the band Boogie Connection.
