Armand Angster
Armand Angster (born January 20, 1947 in Strasbourg ) is a French clarinetist who has emerged as an interpreter of new music as well as in the field of improvisation music and jazz .
Act
In 1981, Angster and Françoise Kubler founded the Accroche Note ensemble , which is dedicated to improvisation and expanded to include Jean-Paul Céléa , François Couturier and Wolfgang Reisinger , and which also worked as a Quintet Passage . He has worked with composers such as Brian Ferneyhough , Pascal Dusapin , Georges Aperghis , Philippe Manoury , Stefano Gervasoni and Michael Jarrell and has performed at the Musica Festival , the Donaueschinger Musiktage and the Europajazz Festival . He has premiered numerous compositions, some of which are also available in his interpretation on phonograms, for example by Jacques Rebotier , Marc Monnet , James Dillon , Horațiu Rădulescu , Annette Schlünz , Helmut Lachenmann and Johannes Kalitzke . As a principal clarinet he has worked with the Music Project (London), the Orchester Philharmonique de Radio France , the Nieuw Ensemble (Amsterdam), the ensemble recherche , the Ensemble l'Itinéraire and the Orchestra of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia .
In 1990 Angster founded the Trio de Clarinettes with Louis Sclavis and Jacques Di Donato . This trio later also worked with the Arcado String Trio ( Green Dolphin Suite , 1995) and with The Clarinet Trio around Gebhard Ullmann (as Double Trio de Clarinettes ). He also recorded with improvisers like Barre Phillips and Butch Morris . He taught at the Strasbourg Conservatory and the Haute école des arts du Rhin .
