Philippe Manoury

Philippe Manoury (born June 19, 1952 in Tulle ) is a French composer .

Life

Manoury was a piano student of Pierre Sancan and studied composition at the Conservatoire de Paris with Gérard Condé , Max Deutsch , Michél Philippot and Ivo Malec . From 1975 he studied computer -aided composition with Pierre Barbaud .

From 1978 he held courses and conferences on contemporary music at various universities in Brazil. In 1980 he joined IRCAM , where he worked as a lecturer and for years under Miller Puckette worked on the development of MAX , the basic visual programming language for live interactive games. Since 2004 he has taught at the University of California San Diego.
