Max German

Max Deutsch (born November 17, 1892 in Vienna , † November 22, 1982 in Paris ) was a French composer , conductor and music teacher of Jewish - Austrian origin.

He was a pupil of Arnold Schönberg , founded the theater Der Yiddische Spiegel in Paris in 1925 and performed many works by Schönberg, Webern and Berg for the first time in France. From 1940 to 1945 he fought in the Foreign Legion . Later he did an important teaching job in Paris. Among other things, he was the teacher of Heinz-Klaus Metzger and from 1975 to 1980 of Amaury du Closel .
