Ivo Malec (born March 30, 1925 in Zagreb , Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes ; † August 14, 2019 in Paris ) was a French composer.

Malec received his musical training in Yugoslavia and had already composed a number of works (including a symphony) before coming to France for the first time in 1955. After studying with Olivier Messiaen , he settled in Paris in 1959 and joined the Groupe de recherches musicales the following year through Pierre Schaeffer . Since then, in addition to orchestral pieces, he has written numerous electroacoustic works and works for instruments and live electronics. In 1972 he became professor of composition at the Conservatoire de Paris .
