Miller puckette

Miller Puckette (born March 26, 1959 ) is the developer of the two programs Max and Pure Data .

He developed Max at IRCAM in the early 1980s. Initially it was only intended for processing MIDI data, but the program was later expanded. David Zicarelli took over the programming from Puckette.

Puckette then left IRCAM and developed the open source counterpart Pure Data from 1996 .

He is currently Associate Director for the Music Department at the Center for Research in Computing and the Arts (CRCA) at the University of California, San Diego .

In 2008 Puckette received the SEAMUS Lifetime Achievement Award .
