Strasbourg Conservatory

The Conservatoire de Strasbourg Music Conservatory is located in Strasbourg , Alsace .
history
The educational establishment was made possible in 1839 by financial donations from the art patron Louis Apffel to the city of Strasbourg. After the foundation, the first day of class was January 3, 1855.
The considerable inheritance of Apffel made it possible to build a winter garden for the community, which housed a symphony orchestra, which is the second after the one in Paris.
In 1922 the Conservatory moved to the building used by the Strasbourg National Theater. It shared the building with the theater until 1995, when the institution was housed in two temporary accommodations in the Laiterie (4, rue Brûlée), until when its own center was completed in 2006, the Cité de la Musique et de la danse .
