Hélène Boschi

Hélène Boschi (born August 11, 1917 in Lausanne ; † July 9, 1990 in Strasbourg ) was a Swiss- French pianist .

Life

She took piano lessons with Yvonne Lefébure and then studied with Alfred Cortot at the École Normale de Musique in Paris. From 1959 to 1975 she regularly took part in the Weimar master classes as a visiting professor, since 1960 she has taught at the École Normale de Musique, and since 1965 at the Conservatory in Strasbourg.

She interpreted works by Johann Sebastian Bach , Joseph Haydn , Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Franz Schubert , Robert Schumann , Clara Schumann , Claude Debussy and Béla Bartók .

Helene Boschi gave the world premiere of the piano works by Maurice Emmanuel , Jacques Ibert and Karel Husa as well as Luigi Dallapiccola's Cuaderno Musicale d'Anna Libera , Claude Ballif's fourth sonata, which are dedicated to her.

As a concert pianist, she has performed with conductors such as George Enescu , Antonio Janigro , Kirill Kondraschin , Lovro von Matačić , Helmut Koch , Václav Neumann , Jean Martinon , Kurt Masur , Manuel Rosenthal and Kurt Sanderling . As a music partner, Boschi played in concerts and for recordings with the cellist Miloš Sádlo , the violinist Peter Rybar , the soprano Irene Joachim (works by Carl Maria von Weber and Robert Schumann ) and in a piano duo with Germaine Mounier .

In 1952, Hélène Boschi played the first recording of Padre Antonio Soler's sonatas and received the Grand Prix du Disque in Paris.

Hélène Boschi taught at the École Normale de Musique in Paris (1960–1965) and from 1965 to 1983 at the Strasbourg Conservatory . From 1960 to 1977 she also held master classes for piano at the International Music Seminar of the GDR in Weimar (today Weimar Master Classes). Her students include Piotr Anderszewski , Dana Borsan , Marek Bobéth , Allain Gaussin , Alain Jomy, Claire Chevallier , Thierry Mechler , Hanns-Martin Schreiber , Emmanuel Strosser.

In 1975 she received the Robert Schumann Prize of the city of Zwickau in recognition of her Schumann interpretations.
