Janina Klassen

Janina Klassen (* 1953 in Bad Salzuflen ) is a German musicologist and professor at the Freiburg University of Music .

Life

Classes studied musicology, German, philosophy and Italian in Freiburg , Vienna , Paris , Siena and Kiel . She first worked at Christians Verlag in Hamburg and as a lecturer in music theory. After various substitutions and teaching positions as well as freelance work as an author , dramaturge and editor , she did her doctorate at the Christian-Albrechts-University in Kiel and qualified as a professor at the Technical University of Berlin . In 1999 she became professor of musicology at the Freiburg University of Music , where she is a member of the Senate. She has published articles on current music and music concepts, music history topics, music and language theory and gender issues . In 2009 she wrote a key biography of Clara Schumann .
