Annerose Schmidt

Annerose Schmidt is the stage name of the German pianist and former university professor Annerose Boeck (born October 5, 1936 in Wittenberg ).

Life

Schmidt was born the daughter of a music school director. Her father trained her to play the piano from the age of five . In 1945 she gave her first concerts. In 1948 she received her concert diploma. After graduating from high school in Wittenberg, Annerose Schmidt began studying with Hugo Steurer at the Leipzig University of Music .

In 1955 she received an award at the Chopin Competition in Warsaw . In 1956 she won the all-German piano competition and the International Robert Schumann Competition in Berlin. This started her international career. She has now undertaken concert tours to Poland , Romania , Hungary , Bulgaria and the Soviet Union .

From 1958 concert tours followed through Western Europe with important conductors and renowned orchestras in Finland , Denmark , Sweden , Great Britain , the Netherlands , Belgium , Luxembourg and Austria . She has also made guest appearances overseas in the USA , Canada and Japan as well as in Lebanon . She recorded the standard piano works of Mozart and Schumann for Eurodisc, Columbia , Eterna and other record companies, for example all Mozart piano concertos with the Dresden Philharmonic under the direction of Kurt Masur . Annerose Schmidt is one of the few German artists from the classical genre, of which there is a Quadro LP in real Quadrophonie (CD-4).

In 1987 Annerose Schmidt became professor and head of a master class for piano at the "Hanns Eisler" University of Music in Berlin . In March 1990 she became the rector of the music academy and held the office until 1995. She was the first woman to head a German music college. Her musical competence was in demand in bodies such as the Berlin Academy of the Arts , for example as a member of the jury for the Chopin anniversary competition in 2000.

She has a daughter who was born in 1961. Her grandchildren have also embarked on a musical career. They are known for their musical work in the Ensemble Nobiles .

Annerose Schmidt stopped her concert activities in the summer of 2006 for health reasons. She lives in Bad Saarow .

Honors

Annerose Schmidt received the GDR Art Prize in 1961 , the Robert Schumann Prize in 1964 , the GDR National Prize in 1965 and 1984, the Leipzig City Art Prize in 1966 and the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze in 1971 . In 1985 she received the Béla Bartók Prize of the Hungarian government for her interpretation of Bartók's piano work. From 1986 to 1990 she was a member of the GDR Academy of the Arts. In 2003 Annerose Schmidt was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon .
