Elisso Konstantines asuli Wirsaladze (also Eliso Virsaladze, Georgian ელისო კონსტანტინეს ასული ვირსალაძე; born September 14, 1942 in Tbilisi , Georgia ) is a Georgian pianist .

Life

Elisso Wirsaladze received her first lessons from her grandmother Anastassija Wirsaladze . Her other teachers included Heinrich and Stanislaw Neuhaus and Jakow Sak . She has won numerous international music competitions: in 1962 she received third prize at the Tchaikovsky Competition , in 1966 she won the Schumann Piano Competition in Zwickau and in 1976 she received the Robert Schumann Prize of the City of Zwickau.

She became famous for her interpretations by Robert Schumann and Frédéric Chopin and has given concerts worldwide. Her musical partners include musicians such as Swjatoslaw Richter , Mstislaw Rostropowitsch , Natalia Gutman and Juri Baschmet .

Wirsaladse teaches as a professor at the Moscow Conservatory and until 2011 at the Munich Academy of Music . Her students included u. a. Boris Berezovsky . She is also a jury member at numerous international piano competitions.
