Dieter-Gerhardt Worm (born August 31, 1930 in Zittau ) is a German conductor. From 1974, for almost two decades until 1993, Worm was General Music Director of the Robert Schumann Philharmonic in Chemnitz .

Worm was born in Zittau in 1930. There he attended the humanistic grammar school and continued his education in piano, conducting and musicology in Dresden, Weimar and Berlin. After passing the state examination in conducting and musicology, Worm took on overall responsibility for repertoire planning, looking after the artists and the budget at the GDR record label Eterna from 1954 to 1972 . In 1972, after a trip to Japan, Worm was "received at the airport with the strict order not to enter his workplace." As a result of this impeachment, Worm was unemployed for almost three years.

From 1981 to 1990, in the 8th and 9th electoral periods , he was a member of the People's Chamber for the CDU .

From 1974 to 1978 Worm was director of the Berlin Staatskapelle . From 1974 to 1993 he took on the corresponding position in Chemnitz (at that time "Karl-Marx-Stadt") and directed the Robert Schumann Philharmonic there. From 1978 to 1986 Worm was a professor at the Mozarteum Summer Academy in Salzburg.

In 1983 Worm received the GDR Art Prize . In 1989 Worm was appointed to the board of the International Schumann Society in Zwickau. In 1991, on his initiative, the Chemnitzer Musikverein eV was re-established, and he has been its first chairman ever since. From 1993 to 1995 Worm was involved in setting up the Central Saxon Philharmonic. In 1995 Worm received the Robert Schumann Prize from the city of Zwickau . Worm has directed the Plauen Philharmonic Orchestra since 1999 and the Plauen-Zwickau Philharmonic Orchestra from 2001 to 2003.
