Hanne-Lore Kuhse (born March 28, 1925 in Schwaan ; † December 10, 1999 in Berlin ) was a German opera singer ( soprano ).

Hanne-Lore Kuhse first studied singing with a private teacher in Rostock . Later she continued her education at the Rostock Conservatory and at the Stern Conservatory in Berlin .

In 1951 she made her debut at the Gera Theater as Leonore in Fidelio by Ludwig van Beethoven . From 1952 to 1959 she was a member of the Schwerin State Theater . In 1959 she moved to the Leipzig Opera House , and in 1963 she was engaged at the Berlin State Opera . Guest appearances have taken Hanne-Lore Kuhse to Budapest , Bucharest , Hamburg , London , Moscow , Nice , Paris , Prague , Sofia and the United States, among others . There she sang at the Tanglewood Summer Festival .

In 1973 she received a visiting professorship at the Weimar Academy of Music . In 1974 she was appointed professor at the Berlin Music Academy . Her students include the mezzo-soprano Annette Markert and the baritone Erwin Noack.

She sang almost all the parts in the dramatic soprano section: Donna Anna in Don Giovanni by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Leonore in Fidelio , Amelia in Un ballo in maschera and Lady Macbeth by Giuseppe Verdi , Tosca by Giacomo Puccini , Senta in Der Fliegende Holländer , Venus in Tannhäuser and Brünnhilde in Der Ring des Nibelungen . Her embodiment of Isolde in Wagner's Tristan und Isolde was considered the highlight of her artistic activity as a singer . In the field of modernity, she became Marie in the opera Wozzeck by Alban Berg .

The musical work of Hanne-Lore Kuhse, which has been handed down through radio recordings, live recordings and records, has been partially re-released on CD in recent years.
