Erich-Alexander Winds

Erich-Alexander Winds (born September 15, 1900 in Dresden , † September 9, 1972 in Berlin ) was a German director and actor .

Life

As the son of a director and an actress, Erich-Alexander Winds started his career in Leipzig at the age of 18 with the knowledge he had acquired at home . After several stations he came to Wuppertal , where in 1945 he took up the post of artistic director of the Wuppertaler Bühnen , which he had only resigned in 1944. From here he was hired from June 1, 1953 at the Städtische Theater Leipzig as drama director. In 1955 he went to the Berlin State Opera , where he worked as chief director until 1969. In 1966 he was appointed lecturer at the State Drama School in Berlin .

He has worked as a director and actor in several television films and DEFA films. He also took on directing work for radio plays.

Erich-Alexander Winds was married to the actress Gisela Bestehorn for the second time .
