Tschudej ( Ukrainian Чудей ; Russian Чудей Tschudei , Romanian Ciudei , German (until 1918) Czudyn ) is a village in the south of the Ukrainian Oblast of Chernivtsi with about 5200 inhabitants (2004).
Tschudej is the administrative center of the district council of the same name , to which the village Nowa Krasnoschora ( Нова Красношора ) with about 190 inhabitants also belongs.
The village, known since 1707, is located in the Storozhynets district, 17 km southwest of the district center of Storoschynez and 40 km southwest of the oblast capital Chernivtsi . Tschudej was the terminus of a branch line of the narrow-gauge railway . Territorial road T-26-08 runs through the village .
