Juliane Banse
Juliane Banse (born July 10, 1969 in Tettnang ) is a German opera singer ( soprano ).
Life
Banse spent her childhood in Zurich . At the age of five she began to play the violin and took ballet lessons at the Zurich Opera House . At 15 she received her first singing lessons from Paul Steiner and Ruth Rohner . After graduating from school, she studied with Brigitte Fassbaender and Daphne Evangelatos in Munich . At the age of 20 she was engaged at the Komische Oper Berlin , where she made her debut as Pamina in the Magic Flute . This was followed by engagements in Brussels , Salzburg , Vienna , Glyndebourne as well as at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and in Cologne . In 1998 she sang the title role in the world premiere of Heinz Holliger's opera Snow White at the Zurich Opera House .
She made her US debut in 1995 with Mahler's Second Symphony with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra under Leonard Slatkin . Until July 2007 she taught as a professor at the University of Music and Theater in Munich . In Munich she sang Ilia in the Idomeneo on June 14, 2008 at the festive reopening of the Cuvilliés Theater - a new production by Dieter Dorn . At the Whitsun Festival 2009 in the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden , she shone as Agathe in a new production of the opera Der Freischütz , directed by Robert Wilson . She also played the role of the bride in Jens Neubert's film adaptation of Weber's most famous opera in 2010.
In addition to her stage presence, Banse works as a lieder and concert singer. She guested u. a. at the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, in the Konzerthaus Wien , in the Wigmore Hall London , in the USA, in Japan, Spain, Portugal, in Switzerland etc.
Banse has been working as a professor at the Robert Schumann University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf since 2016 .
The artist worked with numerous renowned conductors of the time and a. with Claudio Abbado , Pierre Boulez , Carlo Maria Giulini , Bernard Haitink , Mariss Jansons , Nikolaus Harnoncourt , Karl-Friedrich Beringer and Helmuth Rilling , to name just a few.
Juliane Banse is married to the violinist and conductor Christoph Poppen , with whom she lives in Dießen am Ammersee .
