Daphne Evangelatos

Daphne Evangelatos ( Greek Δάφνη Ευαγγελάτου Dáfni Evangelátou , * 1952 in Athens ) is a Greek opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ).

Life

Daphne Evangelatos comes from a well-known Greek family of artists. Her father was the composer and conductor Antiochus Evangelatos .

She received her musical training first in her native Athens, later in Vienna and at the opera studio of the Bavarian State Opera . After brief stops at the state theaters in Kassel and Karlsruhe , she was engaged by Wolfgang Sawallisch as a member of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich , where she then took on the major professional roles.

Since then, Daphne Evangelatos has been from Munich by choice, but performs regularly as an opera, concert and lied singer in European music metropolises.

In recent years she has been heard repeatedly in Berlin, Rome, Vienna, London, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Milan, Dresden and Venice, and she has appeared at the Salzburg , Edinburgh , Athens and Epidaurus festivals .

In 1993 Daphne Evangelatos was entrusted with a professorship for singing at the University of Music and Theater in Munich and also heads the musical theater course at the Bavarian Theater Academy August Everding .
