Gerd Nauhaus
Gerd Nauhaus (born July 28, 1942 in Erfurt ) is a German musicologist .
Life
From 1961 to 1965/69 he studied music education, German literature and musicology at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg , where he received his doctorate in 1980. From 1967 to 1970 he was a music dramaturge at the Zwickau Theater . He then worked as a research assistant, head of the archive and deputy director at the Robert-Schumann-Haus Zwickau, whose director he was from 1993 to 2005. Since then he has been working as a freelancer.
In 1986 Gerd Nauhaus received the Robert Schumann Prize from the city of Zwickau. He was a member of the Saxon Cultural Senate from 1993 to 2002 and is a member of the board of the Robert Schumann Society Zwickau e. V., of which he was chairman from 2006 to 2012; thereafter he was elected honorary chairman for life. He was artistic director of the International Robert Schumann Competitions for Piano and Singing in Zwickau in 2000, 2004 and 2008. Gerd Nauhaus is the editor of Robert Schumann's diaries and household books and the Schumann Studies series . He has also edited publications on and compositions by Clara Schumann and is the author of numerous articles and essays. He took part in symposia and conferences at home and abroad. Lecture stays led him a. a. to Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, the USA and Cyprus. From 2011 he worked with Nancy B. Reich (New York) on the edition of Clara Schumann's youth diaries, which were published in 2019 by Georg Olms Verlag Hildesheim-Zurich-New York.
