Amadeus Webersinke
Amadeus Webersinke (born November 1, 1920 in Broumov , Czechoslovakia , † May 15, 2005 in Dresden ) was a German pianist , organist and university professor .
Life
Webersinke, the son of a teacher, came from northern Bohemia . He attended the Freiwaldau high school and passed his Abitur in 1938. He then studied from 1938 to 1940 with Karl Straube , Johann Nepomuk David , Otto Weinreich and Carl Adolf Martienssen at the Church Music Institute of the Leipzig Conservatory . In 1940 he passed the examination to become a full-time church musician and did military service from 1940 to 1945 (as a corporal).
Webersinke became a lecturer in 1946 and professor for piano in 1953 at the Leipzig University of Music. Until 1953 he worked mainly as an organist, then exclusively as a pianist. Concert tours took him from the GDR to Eastern Europe, but also to Western Europe and Japan. He was visiting professor in Freiburg im Breisgau and Tokyo .
Amadeus Webersinke dedicated himself particularly to the care of Bach's organ and piano works and also gave concerts on the clavichord . He was also committed to contemporary music in the GDR, for example as a soloist in Siegfried Köhler's piano concerto . In 1966 he took over a professorship at the Dresden Music Academy , where he was head of the piano department. From 1972 he was head of the master class for chamber music at the university. His students included u. a. Andreas Boyde , Olaf Dressler and Gerhard Erber .
His grave is in the Protestant cemetery Maria am Wasser in Dresden-Hosterwitz.
