Bernard Ringsissen

Bernard Ringsissen (born May 15, 1934 in Paris ) is a French classical pianist .

biography

Bernard Ringsissen began taking piano lessons at the age of seven. His first teacher was Georges de Lausnay . Ringsissen continued to work with him after joining the Conservatoire Nationale Superieure de Musique (CNSM) in 1947. Four years later, ringsissen won first prize at the conservatory and another prize in 1951 for his chamber music studies with Pierre Pasquiera . After his graduation ,ringenissen began special studies with Marguerite Long and later with Jacques Février . He started a concert career in France, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and Austria.

In 1953, on the advice of his teachers, ringsissen interrupted his public appearances in order to prepare for international music competitions. He achieved a second prize (together with Sergio Scopelliti ) and won the Aldo Ciccolino Prize at the Alfredo Casella competition in Naples . He won first prizes in 1954 at the music competition in Geneva and in 1955 at the 4th and 5th International Chopin Competitions in Warsaw and at the Grand Prix Francis Salabert in Paris. In 1962 he won first prize at the Heitor Villa Lobos competition in Rio de Janeiro , which was initiated and organized by Aleksander Sienkiewicz , a student of Paderewski . In 1989 ,ringenissen received the Robert Schumann Prize from the city of Zwickau.

After his successes in Warsaw and Paris in 1955 ,ringenissen undertook a six-month concert tour on the American continent. He has given over a hundred concerts in Canada, Mexico and Brazil. His career continued uninterrupted for several decades. He worked with orchestras from Paris, Leipzig, Dresden, Berlin and Warsaw. He has performed as a pianist at international festivals in Athens , Aix-en-Provence , Marienbad , Besançon and Duszniki-Zdrój . He often gave concerts in Poland, where he had a large following since the 1955 competitions.

Bernardringenissen has a large repertoire. He plays pieces by Mozart , Beethoven , Johannes Brahms , Robert Schumann , Franz Liszt , Sergei Rachmaninov , Tchaikovsky , Camille Saint-Saëns , César Franck , Milhaud , Ravel , Scriabin , Prokofiev and Chopin . Ringsissen has recorded numerous musical works for labels such as Erato , Polskie Nagrania , Wifon , Adés , Calliopé , Harmonai Mundi , Naxos and others on sound carriers. He has recorded works by Charles-Valentin Alkan , Debussy , Chopin, Józef Wieniawski , César Cui , Rimski-Korsakow , Balakirew , Camille Saint-Saëns (complete works) and by Igor Stravinsky (complete works).

Ringsissen has participated as a juror at numerous international music competitions, such as the Long Thibaud Competition in Paris, the Chopin Competition in Warsaw (1975, 1985, 1990, 1995 and 2000), the Schumann Competition in Zwickau, the Bach Competition in Leipzig , at the Schubert competition in Dortmund and more. He has given courses at the Conservatoire national de région (CNR) in Rueil-Malmaison . Ringsissen has also given numerous master classes at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and at the international summer academy in Weimar.
