František Rauch
František Rauch (born February 4, 1910 in Plzeň , † September 23, 1996 in Prague ) was a Czech pianist and music teacher.
The son of a musical instrument dealer attended the commercial school in Pilsen before studying piano at the Prague Conservatory and composition with Vítězslav Novák . Before he began his career as a pianist, he worked for a few months in August Förster's piano factory .
Rauch became known as a chamber musician (including Praszke Trio with Bruno Bělčík and František Smetana ) and concert pianist. He went on concert tours through Europe, Japan and America. The focus of his repertoire was on the piano compositions of Beethoven , Smetanas , Liszt , Schumann and his teacher Novák. In Poland he was in demand as an interpreter of Chopin's works .
Altogether there are more than 60 recordings of Rauch. As President of the Czech Chopin Society, he was the promoter of the Chopin Festival in Mariánské Lázne . From 1939 he taught at the Prague Conservatory for more than forty years and was the teacher of musicians such as Zuzana Růžičková , Valentina Kameníková , Petr Eben and Ivan Klánský .
