Ulf Wallin

Ulf Wallin (* 20th century in Växjö ) is a Swedish violinist .

Life

He studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna . He began his career as a soloist and chamber musician . He later taught as a visiting professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and at the Detmold University of Music . Since 1996 he has been a professor at the "Hanns Eisler" University of Music in Berlin .

He has released more than 40 CDs, including two new recordings in 2011 and 2012 with all of Robert Schumann's violin concertos . The Robert-Schumann-Philharmonie Chemnitz under the direction of Frank Beermann played the concertante violin works with him (including the violin version of Robert Schumann's Cello Concerto ); he himself performed the three violin sonatas with the pianist Roland Pöntinen . Of this, the recording of the Fantasie op. 131 of the violin concerto by Michael Struck , Robert Schumann Prize winner in 2009, was rated as a reference recording .

Prices

Together with Jon W. Finson, he received the Robert Schumann Prize of the city of Zwickau for 2013. After Hannsheinz Schneeberger , who was the only violinist among the Robert Schumann Prize winners to date in 1995, he is only the second violinist to receive this Award received.

Wallin was elected to the Royal Swedish Academy of Music on May 12, 2014 .
