Jens Neubert

Jens Neubert (* 1967 in Dresden ) is a German author and director and works for opera , theater and film . He has also worked as a film producer since the late 2000s .

Life

Jens Neubert studied psychology in Dresden and opera directing in Berlin . With the artist group Coopera he staged several operas as a director and producer. From 1993 to 1996 he worked as Ruth Berghaus 's personal assistant and speaker and worked on her productions at the Vienna Burgtheater ( The Caucasian Chalk Circle ) , Hamburg Thalia Theater ( The holy Johanna der Schlachthöfe ) and at the Hamburg State Opera at the premiere of Rolf Liebermanns Opera ( acquittal for Medea ) with. He then worked for Andreas Homoki at the Basel Theater ( Messa da Requiem ) and for Willy Decker at the Vienna State Opera ( Moses and Aron ) .

As an opera director he had engagements at the German National Theater Weimar , the Theater Basel and the Deutsche Oper Berlin . As a writer and director he took on productions at the Thalia Theater Hamburg, the Staatstheater Kassel and Staatstheater Cottbus , Festspielhaus Hellerau and the Fondation Beyeler . Neubert developed, wrote and staged plays about Wilhelm Müller ( Georgium Palace near Dessau, 1995), Bertolt Brecht (Thalia Theater Hamburg, 1998), Arnold Schönberg (Staatstheater Kassel, 2000) and Heinrich Heine ( Goethe-Institut , 2006) , among others .

In addition to his directorial work, he gives lectures and works as a curator for a private collection in Zurich. As curator and project manager, he was responsible for the publication of seven Walter Felsenstein films in a DVD special edition, which was published in 2007 at Arthaus-Musik by the Felsenstein family of heirs. In 2008, on behalf of the sponsor Mercedes-Benz Automobil AG , Zurich, he curated the supporting program for the special exhibition Artwork of the Future. Richard Wagner and Zurich (1849–1858) in the Zurich Museum Bärengasse .

In 2008 he founded Syquali Multimedia AG with Peter Stüber, based in Zurich . The Syquali production Hunter's Bride was selected by the World Film Festival in 2010 for the series "World Greats".

Jens Neubert lives in Basel .
