Leonard Carow (born June 26, 1994 in Berlin ) is a German film actor and child actor .

Career

Leonard Carow is the son of the artist and author Katrin Bongard and the brother of Isabel and Amber Bongard . At the side of his sisters, Carow had his first appearance as a child actor in 2004 in the episode Große Liebe from the Tatort television series . The supporting role in the German-Austrian television film Stauffenberg from the same year was not included in the credits.

After further appearances in television films and series, he played Axel Prahl's son in the drama Mondkalb and in the comedy Die Relatitätstheorie der Liebe alongside Katja Riemann and Olli Dittrich . His career climax so far in 2011 in the Oscar- nominated US-British world war drama Companions , directed by Steven Spielberg . In the film adaptation of Michael Morpurgo's novel War Horse , he played Michael Schröder, a young German soldier in the First World War . Together with his brother Günther, played by David Kross , he looks after the horse Joey, from whose point of view the story is told, in the field ambulance. In the course of the action, both soldiers are charged with desertion and sentenced to death. In the literary film The Diary of Anne Frank , which was shot in spring 2015 and was released in cinemas on March 3, 2016, Carow plays Peter van Pels , who is named Peter van Daan in the film as in the diary.

In his private life, Carow is interested in film music, including the works of John Williams , Clint Mansell and Danny Elfman . As part of a school project, he wrote a film score for a film adaptation of The Dead Poets Club . He has had his own channel on YouTube since 2013 and, as a director, has released several episodes of a film series called From the Land of Myth and Mist with the participation of his two sisters.
