No Screams is a German crime film by Jürgen Brauer from 2008. It is the 293rd episode in the film series Polizeiruf 110 and the 36th case for Schmücke and Schneider .

action

A serious accident occurs on a motocross track . Fifteen-year-old Jonas Koch fell on his trainer's motorcycle, Maik Raake, and suffered paraplegia. The forensic investigation shows tampering with the cross machine.

The inspectors Schmücke and Schneider suspect an attack aimed at the youth coach, because nobody could have known that the boy would ride this motorcycle for once. However, Raake weighs it down and says that he cannot imagine who would want to harm him. The inspectors quickly find a suspect, however, because according to Schneider's research, Raake has a criminal past and the accomplice, Ingo Jessen, still has an account with Raake.

Another suspect is the honorary head of administration of the Chross route, Stefan Bachmeier. Schmücke and Schneider find out that Raake is blackmailing him. In search of the reason with which the trainer has Bachmeier in hand, the investigators come across an unpleasant secret. Abnormal behavior of Bachmeier's son Tim suggest child abuse, but it turns out to be difficult to get the boy to talk. So a court order is issued to examine the boy. However, the result does not bring the hoped-for success, because no traces of sexual abuse can be found on Tim. So the investigators find out that this is not Tim Bachmeier at all, but his schoolmate Maurice Mertens, because Bachmeier is his class teacher. After they have solid evidence of this and can also prosecute Raake for the extortion, they arrest Stefan Bachmeier, who in the end admits that the motorcycle had been tampered with.

Reviews

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv thinks that “there is not much good can be said about this crime thriller, in which Schmücke and Schneider act like two future retirees and which is teeming with dull suspects.” Otherwise, “Everything is gray and pale - as far as the eye can see. The subject of child abuse, which has been degenerated into a kitsch of concern, cannot change much. The most fitting symbol for this leisurely crime drama boring: a youngster in front of the telly who shoots sticky arrows at the black screen of a TV set. "

At Kino.de , Tilmann P. Gangloff sees it very differently and feels that this police call has a “cleverly constructed plot that links several family dramas with one another and [would] approach a very sensitive topic very sensitively. The usual teasing between the inspectors would have been out of place, but Schwarz and Winkler were allowed to let off steam a good week earlier in the Friday film 'The Dream Couple'. "
