The Erebus and Terror Gulf is a bay on the southeast side of the northern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is bounded to the northeast by the Joinville Islands and to the southwest by James Ross Island .
The bay is named after the ships HMS Erebus and HMS Terror , with which the British polar explorer James Clark Ross navigated the waters around this bay from 1842 to 1843.
