occupation

Die Tote aus der Saale is a German crime film by Marco Serafini from 2005. It is the 270th episode in the film series Polizeiruf 110 and the 29th case for Schmücke and Schneider . An accountant was murdered in cold blood for knowing too much.

action

Schmücke and Schneider are called to Brachwitz because they found a body in water there. According to the forensic doctor, the dead woman was in the water for over a month. The stranger was shot and was 15 weeks pregnant. Strangely enough, there is no missing person report, but Schmücke's face looks familiar. So it is very easy to identify her as a Sophie Kehler. A look into her apartment reveals a very high standard of living that, as a simple accountant, she actually could not have afforded.

Inspector Schneider can find Hannelore Kehler, the mother of the victim. From her he learns that her daughter broke off relations with her old friend Steffen Rosinski and allegedly fell in love again. From the new friend would be the child. Reason enough for the inspectors to suspect Steffen Rosinski. When they find out that his father has a gun, he remains their prime suspect. Using the last cell phone connections and credit card usage, the investigators can narrow down the date of death of the victim quite precisely. But that would give Rosinski an alibi.

Schmücke and Schneider try to find out who the father of Sophie Kehler's baby is. There is evidence of Dr. Achim Baumbach, Sophie's boss, whom Rosinski also believes to be the murderer of his ex-girlfriend. Rosinski therefore threatens Baumbach with his father's pistol, which can then be identified as the murder weapon. After another analysis of the data that led to the theoretical anniversary of the death of Sophie Kehler, the commissioners note that they made a mistake in their thinking, so that an earlier date is also possible and all alibis of the suspects are invalid. In the end, the murder weapon also turns out not to be Rosinski's pistol, but to that of Achim Baumbach, who owns an identical model that the murderer must have slipped under Rosinski.

The investigators learned from Hannelore Kehler that their daughter had embezzled money in the company for years through fictitious invoices. Since her relationship with Achim Baumbach was very serious, she planned to report herself and put together a suitcase with documents. However, this case is nowhere to be found. Computer scientist Klaus Weber, who was involved in the embezzlement, is suspected. After traces of blood were found in his trunk, he admits the crime and is arrested.
