Until Death Do You Part is a German crime film by Elsa Kern from 2006. It is the 278th episode in the film series Polizeiruf 110 and the 32nd case for Schmücke and Schneider .

action

Andrea and Michael Granzkow, newlyweds, leave the registry office in Dessau and happily walk through the city park. Suddenly a masked man appears and shoots the groom with two shots from a pistol. The pensioner Egon Rotte, who had to witness everything, had a heart attack and had to be taken to the clinic, so that he was unable to witness for the time being. Schmücke and Schneider are notified and take on the murder of the building contractor, which appears to have been a robbery.

On the same day, a young man uses Granzkows credit card to go shopping in an electronics store. The previously convicted Burkhard Senft can be identified using surveillance recordings at the cash register. After being arrested, he explains that he found the credit card in a dumpster . His information sounds conclusive, but the specified container at the edge of the forest has just been emptied. An extended search in the responsible disposal company brings success and the wallet belonging to the credit card can be found, the weapon and the coat of the perpetrator are found and secured in the forest after an extensive search with sniffer dogs.

When Andrea Granzkow can be questioned after the first shock, the commissioners don't get much further. Granzkow's company is shocked by what happened. When asked about possible enemies, deputy Sven Eckart remembered a traffic accident in which his boss was involved and in which a Christina Ahrend was seriously injured. Although Granzkow was acquitted on all counts, the husband continued to make serious allegations and threaten him. Therefore, Gerd Ahrend is interviewed and asked for a comparison, where Andrea Granzkow should give a rating. She can't make up her mind and guesses one of the two corpulent men. However, Ahrend has an alibi and Schmücke cannot explain how Ahrend should have known the exact route the newlyweds took.

Sven Eckart was the only one who knew the bride and groom's plans. Since he used to have his own construction company, which Granzkow "swallowed", he might have reason to hate him. During the investigation, Heiko Remscheidt, Andrea Granzkow's brother, is found dead from the Elbe. He was killed and then thrown into the water. Since Remscheidt's testimony was decisive in dismissing the Ahrends lawsuit against Granzkow, the suspicion against Gerd Ahrend is confirmed. But Sven Eckart's alibi also depended on Remscheidt's statement, who claims to have been with him at the time of the attack on Granzkow.

After the pensioner Egon Rotte can be questioned, contradictions arise to the statement of Andrea Granzkow. Upon further research, the commissioners find out that Andrea Granzkow was in a relationship with Sven Eckart six months ago. When Eckart notices that the police have tracked him down, he runs away and drives to Andrea Granzkow of all people. There he can be picked up by Schmücke and Schneider, who present the two suspects with the clues and arrest them. Traces of blood at the crime scene where Remscheidt was slain prove that Eckart was there. He confesses the act and explains that he did not want it.
