Victor Schefé (born August 4, 1968 in Rostock ) is a German actor in theater, film and television as well as a singer and filmmaker.

Life

Victor Schefé was born on August 4th, 1968 in Rostock . As a child he learned the accordion at the conservatory, later became a competitive athlete ( athletics / sprint and jump), increasingly offended the "socialist society" and was not allowed to finish his high school diploma. At the age of 18 he applied for an exit visa and was released from citizenship of the GDR in autumn 1986 . He traveled to West Berlin . A little later he went to New York, where he lived for a year and a half until 1989. In addition to a few dance and acting classes, he mainly worked as a waiter, intern at the Elysium Theater Company and bead puller for a jewelry designer.

After taking acting entrance exams at the Berlin University of the Arts (now UdK), he accepted a director's offer to immediately take part in an off-theater production, which premiered at the Stückemarkt at the Berlin Theatertreffen . From then on he played in various off-theater productions, especially as a member of the Walser Ensemble, in Berlin, earned his money on the side through jobs at the Berlin Festival , as a DJ and bartender. In the fall of 1990, he and two other partners opened the “Hafen” bar in Berlin's Motzstrasse and shortly afterwards fell seriously ill with cancer .

He celebrated his first major theater success in 1991 as “The Elephant Man” at the Theater am Kurfürstendamm . Further theater work in Berlin and at the Frankfurt Theater am Turm followed. Together with Andreja Schneider he produced the music show “Stars in Bars”, in which he appeared as a singer for the first time.

In 1993 he made his first television film, the premiere of the ZDF series Ein starkes Team , directed by Konrad Sabrautzky. In autumn 1994 Schefé was engaged by Hans Gratzer at the Vienna Schauspielhaus . There he played in the German-language premiere of Angels in America by Tony Kushner . From then on he commuted between theater in Vienna and television work in Germany. In 1996 he played the role of the murderer Harald Landau in Tatort: ​​Aida . At the Wiener Festwochen 1996 he gave Walter Gropius in the world premiere of "Alma" directed by Paulus Manker . In 1998 he played the main role in the opening premiere "Sergej" of the theater festival " Steirischer Herbst " in Graz under the direction of Christian Stückl .

In 2001 he produced the solo show "Ein Stück Mond" as a singer with his band; 2009 his second solo show with the band “Radio Victor - Live”. For the first time, songs by Schefé could be heard there.

From 2003-2005 he played Walter (called "Waltraut") in the SAT 1 sitcom Moving Men . For the role he was nominated in 2003 for the German Television Award in the category "Best Actor Sitcom".

In 2008 he made his first “excursion” into the world of opera : at the National Theater Mannheim he played Porus in “Allesandro”, directed by Günter Krämer .

He made his debut as a director, author and producer in 2009/10 with the documentary BiN - Berlin in November - a 90-minute declaration of love for the city and its people. The premiere took place in 2011 as part of the official competition program of the San Francisco Documentary Film Festival.

From 2011 to 2014 he played Johannes Burckardt in the international series Borgia by Tom Fontana, directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel , Dearbhla Walsh , Athina Rachel Tsangari and Christoph Schrewe . With the main ensemble he was nominated in 2012 for the German Television Award in the "Best Series" category. In addition, as a narrator he was the international "voice of Borgia".

In 2015 he starred in Bridge of Spies, directed by Steven Spielberg .
