Tomas Alfredson
Tomas Alfredson (born April 1, 1965 in Lidingö ) is a Swedish film director.
Life
Alfredson, son of Swedish comedian Hans Alfredson and younger brother of Daniel Alfredson , worked as a television director since the late 1980s. In 1994 he shot the first eight episodes of the twelve-part television series Bert based on the children's book series Bert's Catastrophes by Anders Jacobsson and Sören Olsson, and in the following year a film sequel under the title Bert - den siste oskulden .
The television series Soldater i månsken followed in 2000 and his second feature film Kontorstid in 2003 . In 1999 he had also replaced Walter Söderlund as regular director (and co-screenwriter) of the popular Swedish comedy group Killinggänget around comedians Henrik Schyffert , Johan Rheborg and Robert Gustafsson ; This collaboration resulted in the television series Fyra små filmer in 1999, the Spermaharen short film collection in 2002 and Killinggangset's first feature film in 2004 , the three-hour Fyra nyanser av brunt . For this film Alfredson won the most important Swedish film award Guldbagge in 2005 as best director .
Alfredson had his international breakthrough in 2008 with his fourth feature film, the dark vampire story So sinster die Nacht ( Låt den rrät komma in ) based on the novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist . The film earned him another Guldbagge for Best Director and awards from the Boston Society of Film Critics , the Chicago Film Critics Association , the Online Film Critics Society, and the Toronto Film Critics Association . The film also won top prizes at various film festivals, including Sitges and the Tribeca Film Festival , and was nominated for the European Film Awards in 2009. In 2010 the film received the British Fantasy Award for best film.
His next feature film, the John le Carré film adaptation of Dame, König, As, Spion ( Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy ) with Gary Oldman in the lead role of the MI6 agent George Smiley , who was nominated for an Oscar , received 2011 an invitation to the competition of the 68th Venice International Film Festival . The film was released in German cinemas on February 2, 2012.
After a five-year break, Alfredson filmed the novel Schneemann by Jo Nesbø with Michael Fassbender in the lead role in 2017 .
