John Erik Ajvide Lindqvist (born December 2, 1968 in Stockholm - Blackeberg ) is a Swedish writer .

Life

Lindqvist grew up in Blackeberg, a suburb of Stockholm. He started out as a street artist and made a career as a magician and stand-up comedian . He worked as a screenwriter for Swedish television before starting to write horror fiction . He became known to a large audience through the film adaptation of his first novel So dark the night . His books have been published in 29 countries including Australia, Brazil, China, Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, France, Poland, Russia and the USA. He is married to the writer Mia Ajvide .

Movie

The book So dark the night was filmed in Sweden in 2008 under the film title of the same name (original title: Låt den rätte komma in , international English title: Let the Right One In ), for which Lindqvist also wrote the screenplay. An American remake (directed by Matt Reeves ) was released in 2010 under the title Let Me In . In 2018, a short story by Lindqvist was filmed under the title Border .
