history

Dagens Nyheter was founded in 1864 by Rudolf Wall with the support of the publisher Albert Bonnier and was published for the first time on December 23 of the same year. In 1874 the newspaper was converted into a public limited company. Albert Bonnier was the first family member to become a shareholder in Dagens Nyheter, and in 1909 his son Karl Otto Bonnier finally acquired the majority of the company.

For a long time the seat of the newspaper was the 84 meter high so-called DN-skrapan (German about "DN-Skyscraper"), designed by the architect Paul Hedqvist , who the newspaper obtained in 1964. In 1996 the editorial office was moved to its current headquarters on Gjörwellsgatan, together with the tabloid Expressen .
