Matt Reeves (born April 27, 1966 in Rockville Center , New York ) is an American director, screenwriter and film producer.

Life

He made his debut as a director and screenwriter in 1993 with an episode of the film Future Shock . Two years later he wrote the screenplay for the action film Alert: Rot 2 , and in 1996 he directed the comedy Der Zufallslover . He then worked as a director for television, where he staged individual episodes from various series.

In 1998, in collaboration with JJ Abrams, he came up with the idea for the television series Felicity , for which he worked as an executive producer and directed five episodes from 1998 to 2002. He also wrote 64 scripts for this series.

In 2000, Reeves wrote the screenplay for The Yards . In 2008 he made the film Cloverfield , which was produced by Jeffrey Jacob Abrams. In the same year he received the Filmmaker's Showcase Award from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films . In 2010, Let Me In was a remake of the Swedish horror film So dark the night with Kodi Smit-McPhee and Chloë Moretz in the lead roles. In 2014, Planet of the Apes followed: Revolution , three years later, Planet of the Apes: Survival . Both continue Planet of the Apes: Prevolution (2011).
