The chief detective Herbert Schmücke , played by Jaecki Schwarz , and Herbert Schneider , played by Wolfgang Winkler , are fictional people from the ARD crime series Polizeiruf 110 , who investigated a total of 50 cases from 1996 to 2013.

Herbert Schmücke

Chief Detective Herbert Schmücke, played by Jaecki Schwarz , has been investigating in Saxony-Anhalt since 1996 . He is able to have a conversation with the other person very quickly. Depending on which case hits him, he sometimes resorts to unconventional means. In his first case, The Horse Murderer , he meets his friend Herbert Schneider, with whom he had attended the police school in Aschersleben . Schmücke has a sister named Gabriele and his nephew is the singer Daniel Cross. Both appear in his 16th case, Broken Dreams . Gabriele fled the GDR to the FRG in 1979, which is why her brother had problems with the Stasi and was transferred to Crimmitschau for patrol duty . He met and fell in love with his partner Edith Reger ( Marita Böhme ) in his first case. He lives with her until 2004.

Herbert Schneider

Chief Detective Herbert Schneider, played by Wolfgang Winkler , decided to work with him after meeting his old friend Herbert Schmücke. Since then he has been separated from his family. He later met Gabi Rössner ( Karin Düwel ), with whom he stayed until his retirement. In contrast to his colleague Schmücke, Schneider adheres particularly closely to the facts that are available during the investigation work. As a result, Schmücke and Schneider complement each other, which has a positive influence on their work. However, his colleague Schmücke cannot share the opinion with him that he will be full and satisfied with a bratwurst at the stand.

Nora Lindner

High Commissioner Nora Lindner, played by Isabell Gerschke , has been part of the Schmücke and Schneider team since 2010. After graduating from the police school, she pushed ahead with her career and is already High Commissioner at the age of 29. She is self-confident and sometimes undiplomatic and unconventional. After 42 cases “going it alone”, Schmücke and Schneider have to get used to the support.

Rosamunde Weigand

Forensic technician Rosamunde Weigand secured traces and supported Schmücke and Schneider in the investigation. Marie Gruber was seen in this role from 2000 to 2013. In the 1999 Mordsfreunde case , she already appeared as Gertrud Boldt.

Police advisor Ackermann

Ackermann ( Siegfried Voss ) is the supervisor of Schmücke and Schneider. With his consent, Schmücke was able to bring his colleague from the country to the criminal investigation office in Halle. He is only in 6 episodes of the Halle investigators.

Dr. Klaus Riepe

Forensic doctor Dr. Klaus Riepe, embodied by Klaus-Jürgen Steinmann , appears irregularly in the individual episodes. From 1997 to 2008 he determined a total of 18 episodes together with Schmücke and Schneider.

Dr. Stabroth

From 2008 Jochen Schropp will take over the role of forensic surgeon from Klaus-Jürgen Steinmann. Until 2010 he supports the two commissioners regularly (8 episodes). After that, he's only featured in two more episodes.

Edith Reger

Edith Reger, played by Marita Böhme , is a director at the Halle Opera and Herbert Schmücke's partner until she later puts him in front of Barbarossa's revenge . Then he stays with his colleague Herbert Schneider. She can be seen in this role in 23 episodes from 1996 to 2005.

Gabi Rössner

Gabi Rössner, played by Karin Düwel , appeared for the first time in 2007 in Death of an Investigator as the neighbor of Inspector Schmücke and later became Herbert Schneider's new partner. She inherits a water piece of land on which she and Schneider spend her free time.

Dr. Iris Meisser

From 2007 to 2009, Katerina Jacob played the public prosecutor Dr. Iris Meissner, who has a very good relationship with her colleagues. She even goes bowling with Schmücke, Schneider and Rosamunde Weigand .

On November 30, 2006 the Kurschatten , Henkersmahlzeit , Vollgas , Schneewittchen and Tod im Ballhaus cases appeared on five DVDs under the title Schmücke & Schneider - Your Most Exciting Cases.

The other cases have appeared since May 28, 2015 as part of the police call 110 - MDR box at EuroVideo Medien GmbH. So far, boxes 1–7 with the "Schmücke and Schneider" cases were published until 2007 (as of August 2016).
