Thomas Jacob (director)

Thomas Jacob (* 1943 in Dresden ) is a German film director and screenwriter .

Life

Thomas Jacob grew up in Glietz as the son of the decorator Hermann-Walter Jacob. At the age of six he began playing puppet shows for children of different ages with a puppet stage that his father gave him as a present. When the attempt to take acting classes failed, he trained as an electrician . He had his first small appearances in 1965 at the Komische Oper in Berlin. But his career only got better after studying directing at the Potsdam Film Academy. He shot his first film Polizeiruf 110: The bill doesn’t work with Rolf Hoppe and Traudl Kulikowsky .
