The focus of the series is the schoolgirl Monika Zeller ( Miroslava Šafránková ), who lives in a small GDR community in the countryside and has the desire to become a jockey . For this she trains in the riding club and after the end of the POS takes on training as a racing rider in a racing stable. As a young girl, one does not initially trust her to become a jockey. But with a firm will and hard training, she manages to achieve her dream job. She is supported by her friend Udo ( Hilmar Eichhorn ) , among others .

An autobiographical novel by Sieglinde Dick served as the basis for the film adaptation .
