Peter Herd

Peter Herden (born May 5, 1918 in Plön ; † October 31, 2013 in Dresden ) was a German film and theater actor who mainly worked in Dresden.

Life

Herden passed his A-levels in Breslau in 1937 and then took acting lessons there until 1939. From 1939 to 1945 he was a soldier in World War II and was taken prisoner of war.

In 1945 he received his first theater engagement in Altenburg; further stations were Glauchau (1946) and Plauen (1947). Martin Hellberg brought him to the Dresden State Theater in 1949 as a member of the ensemble , of which Herden became an honorary member in 1988. In 1995 he ended his permanent engagement at the State Theater. At the Dresden State Operetta, where he made his debut in 1963, Herden played Professor Higgins 446 times in My Fair Lady with Marita Böhme as Eliza from 1965 to 1978 .

Herden, who suffered a heart attack in 1998, made his official stage farewell in the role of Willie Clark in Neil Simons Sonny Boys in 2000 . In the production of the Dresden Comedy , he played alongside Herbert Köfer . In 2001, Herden was seen in the classic Die Feuerzangenbowle at the Comedy Dresden and in 2007 appeared as part of the anniversary gala Legenden in the Dresden State Operetta . In the same year he received an honorary membership of the State Operetta.

From 1953 Herden took on roles in film and television, including supporting roles in various DEFA feature films. Herden had his breakthrough as an actor in 1960 in the role of family man and engineer Franz Bach in the DFF feature film Papa's New Girlfriend , who had two sequels with Much Beloved Star and Oh, this youth .

Herden died in Dresden at the end of October 2013. He was buried in the Weißer Hirsch forest cemetery.

In 2000 he was voted one of the “100 Dresdeners of the 20th Century” in the daily newspaper “ Dresdner Latest News ”.
