Stülpner-Legende is a seven-part series on television in the GDR in black and white, which was first broadcast in the GDR from November to December 1973. The series depicts in free adaptation some legendary episodes from the life of the game shooter Karl Stülpner from the Ore Mountains , which took place between 1795 and 1800. His role as a folk hero who took the rich and gave to the poor is particularly emphasized.

action

Electoral Saxony, late 18th century: Hunting in the woods is reserved for aristocratic society. Count von Einsiedel organizes a shooting competition, the winner of which traditionally falls into the office of rulership hunter. The Erzgebirge folk hero Stülpner-Karl, who is known for his accuracy and who occasionally treats the farmers in the village to a self-shot roast, is given good chances. To prevent his participation, Stülpner's rival, the Büttel Wohlleben, wants to set a trap for him. Together with the incompetent Helfrich, who also has ambitions for the post of rulership hunter and then receives it, he wants to surprise the Stülpner, who is currently hooking up with his great love, the landlord's daughter Christine.

The story is told in seven parts: "The shooting", "The battalion", "The garnishment", "The battue", "The head prize", "The wedding" and "The trap".

criticism

"Manfred Krug gave shape to the legendary Erzgebirge folk hero Karl Stülpner with witty wit, gentle irony and hearty charm."
