Jan Pohan

Jan Pohan , born as Kurt Ferdinand Jüstl , (* December 7, 1930 in Drahowitz , Czechoslovakia ; † February 13, 2015 in Prague ) was a Czechoslovakian or Czech actor .

Life

Jan Pohan was born as Kurt Jüstl. His mother was Anna Magdalena, geb. Persyová, an Anglo-Czech, and his father was the German August Jüstl. The couple had five children. In 1933 August Jüstl killed his wife and then himself. Kurt was then taken to an orphanage in Prague. At the age of 5 years Kurt was adopted by František Pohan and took the name in January to.

Already during his military service he moderated theater performances. From 1955 to 1960 he studied acting. He then worked as an actor for the Barrandov film studios . Due to his knowledge of German, he also appeared in several DEFA and German films.

In addition to his work as an actor, Pohan dubbed numerous roles in foreign films in Czech.
