Fred Mahr

Fred Mahr (born May 20, 1907 in Zurich ; † March 12, 1980 in Kleinmachnow ) was a Swiss actor and director who took on both film and stage roles .

Mahr first studied economics and from 1929 to 1931 took acting lessons from Käte Nevill -Schweikart in Munich, where he also made his acting debut. He came to Berlin at the beginning of the 1950s via stages in Fürth and Chemnitz. He played at the Deutsches Theater from 1953 to 1956 and later switched to GDR television , where he was a member of the ensemble in various film productions, both behind and in front of the camera. For example, in productions by the Moritzburg television theater such as Signal auf Rot (1968) by Otto Gotsche , Unusual Excursion (1969) by Hans-Albert Pederzani , A Florentiner Hat (1972) by Eugène Labiche and Pension Schöller (1977) by Carl Laufs . In addition to his directorial work for the German TV Broadcasting Corporation (DFF), Mahr also staged various plays in Parchim and at the room theater in Kleinmachnow.

He gained fame primarily through his participation in some DEFA flicks, such as 1958 in The premiere is canceled or 1961 in Auf der Sonnseite .
