Irene Korb

Irene Hildegard Ilse Korb (born June 7, 1923 in Dresden ; † December 9, 1978 in Hamburg ) was a German actress, author and theater director.

Life

Irene Korb received her training at the Dresden Conservatory, made her debut in 1942 in Liegnitz and then worked at theaters in Cottbus, Berlin, Potsdam and Dresden. Her screen debut in 1949 was the female lead in Wolfgang Staudte's "Rotation". In 1950 she was collectively awarded the GDR National Prize for the DEFA film Our Daily Bread .

Her first marriage was to the actor Gerd Frickhöffer and her second marriage to the director Hans-Erich Korbschmitt . She is buried in the forest cemetery in Kleinmachnow .
