action

Mr Paul is an architect on a business trip who often stays at the Interhotel Potsdam, as he is in charge of a project in a small town in the area where he wants to save an old village center from demolition. To spend the rest of the day, he sits in the hotel hall. Here a woman his age, in her mid to late thirties, comes up to him and greets him. It turns out that she is the wife of one of his sports friends. She came to Potsdam by car to do something and because of a breakdown it has to be repaired in a workshop by the next day. On the advice of her husband, she is supposed to stay in Potsdam, but there is no room in the hotel for the time being.

At the same time, a young couple checks into the hotel who still live at home with their parents and grandparents and who finally want to spend a night alone. Grandma takes care of her child during this time. To make use of the time, both of them disappear to their room as quickly as possible. After the two of them have slept together, a discussion develops about whether it was nice or not. As a result, they first disappear from bed again.

In the meantime, Mr. Paul and Ms. Sbrchylinska are going to dine in the hotel restaurant and have lively conversations over a bottle of wine. They also walk around the hotel for a long time. When they return, they have to find out that there are still no rooms available. So they both decide to go to the night bar high above Potsdam. There they are assigned a seat at the young couple's table. They ended up in the bar because a blanket thrown carelessly over the television set was their undoing. It started to burn and until the housekeeper had put the room back in order, they had to leave the room. However, there is no understanding for one another between the two unequal couples. The young woman in particular is jealous of her husband because he danced with Mrs. Sbrchylinska and she is shocked that the two older ones are married, but not to each other. Slightly exhilarated, also from the alcohol, they go back to their room and, out of sheer exuberance, paint the wallpaper around a picture with toothpaste, lipstick, cream and the like. When moving out the next morning, they assure the hotel manager that they will put the room back in order.

After the night bar closes, Mr. Paul guides Ms. S. past the reception desk into his room, where she first takes the opportunity to take a shower. When she comes back into the room, only wearing a towel, she immediately lies down in the single bed and covers herself, but not without first taking off the towel. Mr. Paul is about to follow up when he notices that she fell asleep immediately. So he pushes two armchairs together and spends the rest of the night there. When he wakes up from the unfortunate sleeping position, he takes a little walk. In the hotel lobby he learns from the receptionist that a room has not been used late in the evening.
