Doris Plenert

Doris Plenert (born December 24, 1953 ) is a German actress , theater director , broadcaster , journalist and book author .

Life

Education and theater

Doris Plenert grew up in Babelsberg . After graduating from high school, she first studied philosophy at the Humboldt University in Berlin from 1972 to 1976 . She then worked as a dramaturge at the DEFA documentary film studio from 1976 to 1978 .

In 1978 she took on a leading role alongside Christine Schorn in the DEFA feature film Nachtspiele . From 1978 to 1981 she then completed her acting studies at the Ernst Busch School of Dramatic Art in Berlin. In 1980 she appeared in Berlin at the Theater im Palast. In 1981 she played on the stages of the city of Gera the Virginia in the musical The Ghost of Canterville . From 1981 to 1984 further theater engagements in the GDR followed, including a. at the Theater im Palast in Berlin, at the Weimar Theater and at the Zittau Theater . Her roles in the GDR included a. Margherita in Is Not Paid by Dario Fo (Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater Zittau, 1981), Charly in The New Sorrows of Young W. von Ulrich Plenzdorf (Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater Zittau, 1981), Anina in Der Impresario von Smyrna by Carlo Goldoni (Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater Zittau, 1982), Inge in the operetta Die wilde Auguste by Walter Kollo (Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater Zittau, 1982) and Queen Elisabeth von Valois in Don Carlos (Friedrich-Wolf-Theater Neustrelitz, 1983 ).

In the GDR she founded her own independent theater company, the “Streusselschnecke Children's Circus”, with which she performed in East Berlin in 1983/84 . After a dispute with the government of the GDR, she was allowed to leave for the West in 1984.

In the west she had permanent engagements at the Stadttheater Basel (1984–1986) and at the Cologne Schauspielhaus (1986–1990). At the Stadttheater Basel she performed a. a. as Marina in Demetrius (1984), as Anna in The Youngest Day by Ödön von Horváth (1984), in the title role of Nora. A Doll's House (1985), as Lydia in Die Kassette von Carl Sternheim (1986) and as Abigail in Witches Hunt (1986). At the Cologne theater she played a. a. Mariana in Maß für Maß (1986), Ida in Love and Magic in Mamma's Kitchen by Lina Wertmüller (1988), the teacher in The Races by Ferdinand Bruckner (1988; Director: Peter Löscher ), Adriane in A Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy by Woody Allen (1989 ), Dinah in As It Is As It Seems to You by Luigi Pirandello (1989), Ismene in Antigone (1989), Mascha in Die Möwe (1990) and Lady Montague in Romeo and Juliet (1990; directed by Jaroslav Chundela ).

She has been working as a freelance actress, director and author since 1990. In 1992 she appeared at the Bad Hersfeld Festival as Puck in Shakespeare's comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream . For this she was awarded the Hersfeld Prize in 1992 . In 1993 she was engaged at the Zimmertheater Heidelberg. There she played Paulina in the play Death and the Maiden .

Since then she has also participated in numerous independent and alternative theater projects and projects. She played at the Agrippa-Theater / Theater im Agrippa-Bad in Cologne (1996 as Marquise de Merteuil in Quartet ; 2000 as Pozzo in Waiting for Godot ), at the Théâtre des Capucins in Luxembourg (1999, 2003 and 2005) and several times with the Prince Regent Theater in Bochum (2002, 2004–2006). In the 2009/10 season she appeared there as Electress and von Kottwitz in The Prince of Homburg . In the 2014/15 season she played the role of Mama in Speeches with Mama at the Prinz Regent Theater in Bochum .

Since 2003 Plenert has appeared regularly at the Theater im Bauturm in Cologne. She played there u. a. all female roles (Linda Loman, die Frau, die Fräulein) in The Death of a Salesman (2003), Margrethe Bohr in Copenhagen by Michael Frayn (2003), Frau Müller in Frau Müller muss weg! by Lutz Hübner (2011) and Melissa Gardner in Love Letters (2012). In 2013 she took on the role of Lady Augusta Bracknell in Bunbury (2013).

Since 2007 Plenert has also appeared regularly at the Theater der Keller in Cologne. There she played the Honor in In All Honors by Joanna Murray-Smith (2007; Director: Hanfried Schüttler), Laura Stratton in Happy Times by Alan Ayckbourn (2008; Director: Kathrin Sievers), Mary in One Long Day Journey into the Night ( 2008; directed by Hanfried Schüttler), Elisabeth I. in Maria Stuart (2009; directed by Herbert Wandschneider) and the accountant Olga in Nordost by Torsten Buchsteiner (2011; directed by Daniel Kuschewski ).

In 2013 she appeared at the Freie Werkstatt Theater in Cologne as a caretaker Nikita in room number six based on the novella by Anton Chekhov . In 2013 she appeared at the Hessisches Landestheater Marburg in the children's play The Book of All Things as Frau Klöpper (mother).

Since 2001 Plenert has been working as an acting lecturer at the Arturo Drama School in Cologne. She has also made several appearances as a theater director. In 2002 her production of Shakespeare's Midsummer Night 's Dream premiered at the Arturo Drama School in Cologne.

Movie and TV

In the DEFA film Nachtspiele (1979), Plenert had her first film role, directed by Werner Bergmann , without having previously received an acting training . At the end of the 1980s, after years of exclusively stage work, she resumed her film work. Since the 1990s, she has appeared in numerous television films and series, mostly in supporting roles.

Her early television work included her appearances in the comedy series TV Kaiser ; she played various roles there, including a. a mother in the audience. In 1996 she took on the role of Rosemarie Dinkel in the RTL series Unter uns ; she was the secretary of the art professor Dr. Joachim Albrecht ( Alexander Osteroth ). In the television series Geliebte Schwestern she had one of the leading roles from 1997 to 1998 as Frieda Beck, mother of sister student Michaela "Micki" Beck ( Mareike Fell ).

In the German-French-Dutch film Rembrandt (1999) by Charles Matton , she played the small role of a citizen's wife. In the television series Die Musterknaben she played in the 2nd / 3rd Part of the series (1999/2003) the role of Commissioner Humbold. in the television film You are my child (2002; with Sabine Postel in the leading role) she was the midwife Barbara. In the ZDF crime thriller Wilsberg: The Minister and the Girl (2004) she played the role of Mrs. Uhlenbrock; she played the wife of Detective Uhlenbrock. In the TV film Prague Embassy (2007) she took on the role of grandmother Gertraude Herfurth. In the television film Special Gravity of Guilt (2014) by Kaspar Heidelbach she had the supporting role of Gerda Reet; she was the wife of the former detective Fritz Reet ( Hans-Martin Stier ).

Plenert also had episode roles a. a. in the series Die Wache (1994; as Mrs. Osterwald, employee in the social welfare office), Lindenstraße (1997; as Mrs. Dr. Kramer), Stadtklinik (1998), Anke (2001; as Mrs. Korff), SK Kölsch (2005; as mother Lutter ), The Elephant - Murder never expires (2005; as the pensioner Mrs. Rogge), SOKO Leipzig (2005; as taxi entrepreneur Vera Rettenbach, disfigured by a failed cosmetic operation), SOKO 5113 (2009; as Stasi informant Brigitte Jentsch), Danni Lowinski (2013 ; as a neighbor), pensioner cops - every day counts! (2015; as pensioner Ilse) and SOKO Cologne (2016; as neighbor and witness Hildegard Schmitz).

Speaker and author

Since 1985 Plenert has been working as a speaker for radio plays (including Minna von Barnhelm ; SWF 1985) and radio features , including a. at WDR , Deutschlandfunk and Deutschlandradio . She also recorded audio books (including The Foucault Pendulum ) and audiobooks.

Plenert published several books under the name Doris Siekmeyer: Cologne - the northernmost city in Italy , Foreigners - People in Germany , Echt Kölsch , The Philosophy of Screws and Görlitz - The Gate to the East . She also wrote political reports, as well as war and travel reports (including Angola , Georgia , the People's Republic of China , Sri Lanka , South America ). She lives in Cologne.
