Husband Peter can only endure his unsatisfactory role as an inferior, unemployed furniture restorer and father of two children by allowing himself to be carried away fatalistically in every second sentence with cynical and self-deprecating comments. Regardless of the life situation - whether dealing with his father, whose wife has just passed away, what he wants to deal with in the company of Inge, a former employee and a significantly younger woman, or in the common everyday life with his wife Elisabeth, who works in development aid emancipated and emphasizes its advantages - frustration, clumsiness and morbidity always characterize his further approach. A two-year trip to Nairobi planned by Elisabeth and her boss plunges both young parents into a deep relationship crisis.
