The teacher is a German dramedy television series about the teacher Stefan Vollmer, played by Hendrik Duryn . The first season of the series was produced for RTL in 2007 , but was not broadcast until 2009. It was similar with the second season, which was produced in summer 2012, but did not start broadcasting until December 2013. Another season was broadcast in each of the following years.

action

The series is about Stefan Vollmer, a teacher for German, natural sciences and sports. After ten years of absence, he returns to the school service. His new job, the Georg Schwerthoff Comprehensive School, soon turns out to be a problem area. There is anomie in the hallways and Stefan Vollmer will soon be assigned as an expert on the G-course , which is the most chaotic class in the whole school. With alternative, unconventional methods and a different approach, however, he soon gets the students behind him and gradually manages to change their attitude towards the school.

When the teacher Karin Noske comes to the school at the beginning of the second season, a romance is slowly developing between her and Vollmer. At the end of the season she wants to move to Boston with her partner in the USA , but at the last moment decides to stay in Germany. However, Stefan Vollmer does not notice, who - also at the last moment - also buys a ticket for the plane to confess his love to her. This season, Vollmer also learns that he has an illegitimate gay son.

At the beginning of the third season the neighboring secondary school burns down, so that the students of this school are now also taught at the comprehensive school. The romance between Stefan Vollmer and Karin Noske experiences a continuous ups and downs until they kiss and come together at the end. The ups and downs continue in the fourth season.

In addition, in the course of the fourth season you learn that director Günther Rose has a daughter, with whom he had no contact for many years because of his alcohol problem. Furthermore, Vollmer's G-course ends with her successful graduation and after the summer vacation a new school year begins with a new class, the upper school course.

Karin Noske takes a rector position in Lemgo and takes it up at the beginning of the fifth season. She is pregnant but does not know whether it is from Vollmer or his best friend Michael, as she had sexual intercourse with Vollmer once during her relationship with Michael. She gets back together with Vollmer and returns to school in Cologne, where her mother has since started a relationship with Rose. The fifth season ends with the birth of the baby at school and the two fathers who are supposed to cut the umbilical cord.

At the beginning of the sixth season, fatherhood is clarified, father is Michael. Patrick Petzold ( Eugen Bauder ) comes as a new colleague at the Georg Schwerthoff Comprehensive School. He is taken with Karin, but cannot show his feelings towards her due to his relationship with Stefan. In the meantime, he confirms Noske's assumption that he is homosexual. Stefan sees through it and demands that he confess it to Karin himself. Ultimately, he can only prove his heterosexuality to her with a kiss. At the end of the season, Stefan and Karin want to get married. However, a gas leak occurs in the wedding tent, which leads to an explosion. Hanging from the cliff , it is left open whether everyone survived this disaster.

At the beginning of the seventh season it turns out that Karin cannot remember the last three years due to the explosion. Stefan's attempts to revive her memory by visiting striking places fail. Only at the prom of the high school graduation class can Karin remember when she realizes that she knows tango and loves Stefan. Later in the season, Stefan reconciles with his mother after realizing that he unjustly pushed her away after the death of his father, to whom he had a very close bond. In a school experiment in which the blood types of Michael and Frida are determined, it turns out that Michael cannot be Frida's father. Another test then confirms that Stefan is the father. It also turns out that Karin suffers from an incurable form of thyroid cancer. At the end of the seventh season, Karin finally dies of it. A leap in time takes place five years later. Jonas, Stefan's son, has meanwhile become a teacher and lives with Stefan and Frida in the house. By chance, Stefan finds a USB stick with a message from Karin, where she thanks him for everything.

Season 8 begins 5 years after the death of Karin Vollmer in season 7: Frida, the daughter of Stefan Vollmer and Karin, is now six years old and starts primary school. In the first episode, Stefan meets a young woman named Sara, with whom he has a one night stand. Vollmer later learns that Sara shares a fate similar to his. At the end of the third episode, Stefan's son Jonas Burmeister moves out of the Vollmer house and leaves the series for the time being. As usual, Stefan takes care of the needs of his students, including topics such as environmental protection, simulated deafness, exclusion and a few more. But even Stefan is still haunted by the grief for his beloved Karin, but never really shows anything on the outside. The grief persists throughout the series. Barbara and Karl now have a son named Luke and at the end of the season, Barbara becomes pregnant with a girl. After nothing came of Stefan and Sara, he enters into a small on-off relationship with Frida's class teacher Rebecca, but the grief for Karin does not yet make a new relationship possible for him. The last episode comes to the emotional climax of the season: Stefan is trapped under an aircraft bomb from the Second World War. Sara joins them and tries to defuse the bomb - which they do. The season ends with Stefan lovingly hugging Frida, indulging in his sad feelings and starting to cry.
