Bernd-Christian Althoff (* 1983 in Bielefeld ) is a German actor .

Life

Education and theater

Althoff graduated from high school and completed his community service . This was followed by a stay abroad in Australia , where he worked as a dishwasher , gas station attendant and as a worker on a fruit plantation . From 2006 to 2010 Althoff studied acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna and at the Institute for Drama and Drama Directing at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna . His teachers included u. a. Michaela Rosen , Markus Schleinzer , Artak Grigorjan , Klaus Maria Brandauer , István Szabó and Markus Kupferblum . He completed his studies with a Magister Artium (MA).

During his studies he already appeared as an actor in Vienna, a. a. at the Werkstätten- und Kulturhaus WUK (2007; as Carl in Gesäubert von Sarah Kane ), at the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn , at the Theater der Jugend Wien (2008; each in The Servant of Two Men ) and in the Salon5 (2008; in Töten by Daniel Kehlmann ). Before completing his training, in 2010, under the direction of Nina C. Gabriel , he played the Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet (n) as a guest at the Vorarlberger Landestheater Bregenz , in a "gay" version of the Shakespeare story with two men in love. He was also engaged as a guest at the Mainz State Theater . There he played Pylades in Iphigenie auf Tauris in 2010 (Director: Niki Stein ) and Brick in The Cat on a Hot Tin Roof in 2012 (Director: Sarantos Zervoulakos). In the 2012/13 season he had a guest engagement at the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna. He played Mr. Cecil Graham in the social comedy Lady Windermeres Fächer in a new production with Andrea Jonasson and Sona MacDonald in the leading roles. Movie and TV

Althoff made his cinema debut with a small role in the Austrian film Der Räuber (2010). This is followed by other supporting roles in Christian Schwochow's The Invisible and in Rudolf Thome's film in Ins Blaue (2012).

From 2015 Althoff was regularly seen in TV productions, initially in the TV film Vier kriegen ein Kind (2015) alongside Friederike Kempter and Christina Hecke as the attractive “ sperm donor ” Manuel.
