Dagny Dewath (* 1981 in West Berlin ) is a German actress .

Life

Education and theater

From 2004 to 2008, Dewath studied acting at the Folkwang University of Applied Sciences in Essen in the Acting Department of Bochum. During her studies she already had an engagement as a beginner at the Schauspielhaus Bochum . Between 2007 and 2009 she played the role of mother in Brecht's play “ Die Kleinbürgerhochzeit ” (director: Wolf-Dietrich Sprenger ). The production was awarded the ensemble and audience award at the national competition of German-speaking drama schools in Salzburg in 2007 . In the 2007/08 season she appeared at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus as Milenka in Franz Grillparzer's play “Libussa” (director: Konstanze Lauterbach ).

Then she had engagements at the Schauspielhaus Bochum, a. a. in “A Tribute to Quentin Tarantino” (2009/10), “A Tribute to Johnny Cash” (2009–2013; Direction: Arne Nobel ) and in the recital “Heimat ist keine Solution” (2012/13; Direction: Thomas Anzenhofer ); She also took part in several productions of the festival “Ohne alles”.

She appeared at the Westphalian State Theater , a. a. as Ayten Öztürk in “ On the Other Side ” by Fatih Akin (2010/11; director: Christian Scholze) and as Spelunkenjenny in Brecht / Weill's “ Die Dreigroschenoper ” (2012/13; director: Katrin Herchenröter). In the 2013/14 season she appeared at the Prinz Regent Theater in Bochum as Desdemona in Shakespeare's " Othello ".

Dewath also works for film and television. Initially, she worked in several short films, diploma films, university graduation films (including in Gisberta ) and music videos. Since 2008 she has regularly taken on television roles.

In the television film Robin Hood (2013; with Ken Duken ) she took on the leading female role of Detective Inspector Sophie Kaiser. In the TV movie Guardians of My Brother (2014) she played the role of Andrea. In the comedy Stromberg - The Film (2014) she was seen in a supporting role; she played the elegant hostess Helena. In the 16th season of the ZDF series SOKO Wismar (2020), she took on one of the leading roles in the episode as suspected antiques dealer Laura Wagner. Private

Dewath's parents come from the GDR , where they were imprisoned for "subversive agitation". Dewath himself was born in West Berlin after her parents were evacuated . She has a sister and lives in Munich .
