action

It is the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Capitol-Versicherung company, and an anniversary celebration is coming up. The corporate management invites the entire workforce to a country hotel in Botzenburg. Stromberg decides that his claims department will not attend the ceremony. Like most of his colleagues, Berthold "Ernie" Heisterkamp, who is now Stromberg's deputy, does not understand this decision, which leads to a first power struggle between the two. Stromberg later learned by chance from the caretaker that massive job cuts are planned at the Capitol and that the Cologne location is to be closed. This triggers fear of the future in him, which is why he decides to go to the party after all in order to secure a safe position at the headquarters for himself.

The entire department u. a. with Stromberg, "Ernie", Jennifer, Ulf and Tanja including their foster son Marvin makes their way to Botzenburg. The excursion - starting with the outward journey in the rented bus - is characterized by a power struggle between Stromberg and Ernie, in which Stromberg finally prevails. Even with the personnel director Klinkhammer, whom he met for the first time on arrival at the hotel and initially made a negative impression through racist and sexist comments, he later made a good impression through his entertainer skills. He saves the boring gala evening by presenting a self-made satirical film about the Capitol and a hurriedly composed hit song ( Let Papa do it ). Klinkhammer offers Stromberg a position at the head office in order to have someone who communicates the mass layoffs and speaks “the language of the people”.

Klinkhammer Stromberg spontaneously procures its own company car as well as an invitation to the “board party” after the actual event in a remote country house. Stromberg goes to the party with Jennifer. However, this turns out to be an orgy between the male board members and prostitutes, which Stromberg leaves again because of his newly inflamed love for Jennifer. This begins a series of events: Klinkhammer is disappointed with Stromberg and has the key for the company car withdrawn from him. Shortly thereafter, Stromberg received his termination without notice, which he took as an opportunity to report the planned mass layoffs to the other employees. The result is a protest movement against the Capitol, which more and more employees are joining and which even has a lot of media coverage, in the course of which Stromberg is highlighted as the leader of the movement and even stylized nationwide as a symbol against capitalism.

The film ends with Stromberg holding an unspecified, but apparently high position in the SPD . In the Willy Brandt House he arrived in Berlin by Frank-Walter Steinmeier welcomed, then he gives interviews and comments on this by saying that he was "at the top".
