WaPo Lake Constance is a German television series that since January 17, 2017 on Tuesday evening at 18:50 in the first airs. The crime series of SWR is a successor to the Bodensee - crime scene .

At the center of the series are the team from the Lake Constance water police in Konstanz and their new supervisor, Commissioner Nele Fehrenbach, who has returned from Hamburg to Lake Constance to take over the management of the water police. At first she is not welcome because her colleague Andreas Rambach expected to become the new boss himself.

Fehrenbach's withdrawal from Hamburg had family reasons and to do with the fact that her husband cheated on her with her best friend. The commissioner then filed for divorce and returned with her two children to her parents' house and to her mother in Konstanz.

The series is produced by Saxonia Media Filmproduktion on behalf of ARD . The series started on January 17, 2017, shooting started on July 14, 2016 and lasted until the beginning of October 2016. The shooting for WaPo Bodensee took place on Lake Constance in Konstanz and Radolfzell . In order to be as realistic as possible, all of the main actors got the Bodensee skipper patent .

After a first season with eight episodes, a second season with a further eight episodes was produced in the summer of 2017. Another eight episodes were created in summer 2018. Shooting started on July 5, 2018. In summer 2019, a fourth season with 16 episodes was filmed from April 25 to October 19, 2019. The first part (25–32) of the fourth season was broadcast between March 24th and May 12th, 2020. The 2nd part of the 4th season should originally have been broadcast in early autumn (from the end of August 2020), but was postponed to winter 2020/21 due to the corona pandemic. During these times, 24 reruns (episodes 1–24, seasons 1 to 3) will be broadcast from May 19, 2020

The series was produced in many places around the lake. However, around 50 percent of the shooting took place in Radolfzell on Lake Constance for logistical reasons. Filming locations there included the clubhouse of the water sports club Waschbruck (water protection police station), the Villa Wolf on the Mettnau peninsula (house of the long -established Konstanz family Fehrenbach) and the Friedrich-Hecker-Gymnasium ( Franz-Weber- School). Other locations were the customs house in Bodman-Ludwigshafen (Swiss shipping police) and the former Siemens site in Petershausen (hospital).

What is unfortunately noticeable are various incorrect assignments of ranks / official titles to badges / shoulder pieces. Captain Aubry, for example, wears the rank badges of a field woman or adjutant (4 or 5 angles) in various episodes of the series . However, 3 narrow strands (strips) would be correct for a captain. Jakob Frings, on the other hand, is introduced by Nele Fehrenbach as a police chief in the wake of his first appearance, although he wears the shoulder pieces of a police chief (3 instead of 4 narrow braids).

Offshoot

In spring 2019 it was announced that in addition to WaPo Bodensee there will also be a WaPo Berlin . From May to August 2019, eight episodes were filmed from the offshoot and broadcast in 2020.
